Outreach Projects
Cancer Treatment Drivers:
Volunteer drivers take people to their radiation and chemo treatments in Charlottesville and Fredericksburg.

The Culpeper Food Closet:
Provides food and personal care items to Culpeper families in need.  People in need must first go to the Dept. of Social Serices to receive a voucher for the Food Closet.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please call us at 825-1177 or email us at culpeperfoodcloset@gmail.com

“Serving Time-Serving God, Prison Book Ministry:
If you would like to offer help to the inmates of Coffeewood Correctional Center, they are in desperate need of books.  You can donate any religious, spiritual or self-help books.  They will also accept paper back novels.  If you don’t have books to donate, you can make an offering to the church, earmarked to “Prison Books” so we can purchase prison ministry Bibles.

New Ministry ~ Prayer Shawl Ministry:
A small group has begun a Prayer Shawl Ministry at St. Stephen's. Prayer Shawl Ministry offers participants an opportunity to serve others by knitting or crocheting a prayer shawl. Through handiwork, we seek to bring comfort  and healing. We use simple patterns, so we can pray as we work. Each person works at his/her own pace, doing most of the work at home. For more information, contact Nancy Crow at 540-825-2642 or crow39@comcast.net.
For additional information, please contact the church office at 540-825-8786 or st.stephens.episcopal@gmail.com
Dialysis Drivers:
Volunteer drivers pick up a local woman, from her Culpeper town home, and take her to her dialysis treatment in the morning. Another driver then picks her up in the afternoon and returns her home. This occurs every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. This is very rewarding service work since this patient is so grateful for St. Stephen’s help in her life.

Heat Shelter Program:

St. Stephen’s participates in the Culpeper Heat Shelter program, a coalition of churches who provide shelter, including breakfast, a bag lunch, and a hot dinner for people in our community who are homeless. Congregations take turns hosting this event on a week-by week basis. We need volunteers to cook, chaperone and be Christian friends to our guests. Please see our calendar to see when our next week to host the shelter will be – or if you’d like to help sooner, check out the Culpeper Heat Schedule to help other congregations with this ministry.
